Night

A+ A-

Night and dread, night and fear of darkness,

Night of love's demise and helplessness,

Eyes intoxicated, hearts in disarray,

Lost in paths unknown, souls astray.

Both I and me weary and bent,

From this game, futile and unrepentant.

A night with memories lost to the wind,

Both I and night entwined in freedom's bind.

What bond is this that binds me to we?

Not the shackles or chains you see.

If the heavens show me no mercy,

Take what you will from this world, coercively.

A divine love has fashioned me,

What fear from night and helplessness can there be?
